Our annual Teaching and Learning Conference (reFresh) for all Lethbridge College faculty and interested staff is scheduled for Wednesday, May 2, 2012. This year’s conference theme is The Passion of Teaching – The Joy of Learning.
The emotional fuel we need to teach with energy and enthusiasm, is passion.
Brian Keating (our keynote speaker), the former Head of Conservation Outreach at the Calgary Zoo, is currently the Zoo’s Honorary Conservation Advisor and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Calgary. He is an adventurer, world traveller, and leader of some 80 expeditions to remote locations around the world. Recipient of the Reader’s Digest “Canadian Hero of the Year Award” in 2006, Brian is well known for being passionate for education and the environment. Nature is his passion. His buoyant, fast paced and often humorous presentation will highlight his unique insight into the importance of nature in our everyday lives and help you reflect how to sustain the passion in yours.
The day will also include:
- 45 minute break-out sessions after the keynote in the morning
- An on-going Twitter Feed (#lcrefresh) to keep faculty informed about different Refresh activities throughout the day
- An awesome lunch put on by Chef Charles and the wonderful Garden Court students and staff
- The GIFT (Great Ideas for Teachers) sessions in the afternoon
- The Refresh Video – produced by EET staff
- And last but not least a selection of great prizes
